Here is a list of podcasts and YouTube videos that may help explain what is going on at the Geelong Revival Centre and how to deal with issues that may be close to you.
I've watched, listened and read a lot of material over the years and those shared are really only representative of recent or currently memorable ones that I put together up until the last entries upload.
Hopefully they will help guide you if you are contemplating what the GRC is, you intend to leave or have left recently. If it's been a while since you left and you find these great then that's perfect too.
These have been selected due to the content being relevant to the GRC experience and will be added to as time permits. Please look up podcasts, YouTube and reading material yourself also if you can.
I'm hesitating with providing direct links to the recommendations at the moment. In the meantime you can find the podcasts on your favourite podcast provider/player or app. Good ones are Apple podcasts, Spotify, Castro, Overcast, Pocket Casts and iHeart. You can listen for free. Plus 'Hidden Brain', 'Unexplainable', and 'I was a Teenage Fundamentalist' have their own websites where you can listen from the website directly.
Consideration has taken into account what effect they would have on the intended audience. It is hoped that these recommendations are not likely to rise up anger because they do not focus on GRC ministry or member activity specifically.
It's understandable if you at first don't think the recommendations are relevant because they aren't produced by people who were associated with the GRC or the content isn't focused on the actual GRC and what your experience is while attending.
If you persevere with watching and listening you can not ignore the very obvious similarities between the Geelong Revival Centre and the discussed behaviours.
The Geelong Revival Centre knowingly, or unknowingly, follows very common template systems that thousands of other cults around the world use.
The issue is while attending the Geelong Revival Centre we all like to think and hope that we are more special, more chosen, more spiritual, more blessed, more forgiven, and/or more fortunate, and that's why we just happen to be in the one right church of God. You know there are a huge amount of cults that follow a similar template, but at the same time think...but...but the GRC IS THE one and only and I just happen to have lucked it. And because I am so extremely lucky I have to ignore absolutely everything my excellent mind thinks contrary and follow exactly what the ministry says because they are above me. They are not above you in ANY WAY! It's very hard for me to prove it to you because only you can solve and work this out for yourself, but the GRC is not representative of God or the one true church as they absolutely claim to be.
I went to the GRC for many years and gave it everything. The further I committed the more things started to unravel. I took the humble pill, questioning myself, all my beliefs, accepted I could be wrong and not be that special to be 'chosen' out of all the billions of people on this planet. I guarantee there are people all around you that believe just as much, if not more, that they are following the one true God and church. And they say the GRC is wrong. Listening to these podcasts and watching the videos may convince you the GRC is the same as so many other cults. It's my hope you see beyond yourself's past and open up the thought what if I am wrong? And what could I be doing with this precious life instead?
And remember “Computers on the internet will never take off." Mid 90's prophecy by Pastor Noel Hollins.
Listen to this episode about the Placebo Effect, and swap the situations presented with the theatrics on display at the GRC. Maybe you will now think of it as the Geelong Placebo Centre.
This one is especially for the sisters attending or recently advanced. It's also great for anyone else.
Erica Bailey tells her story about her cult upbringing, her leaving, her life and what she does now.
Theme is about being your own true self - Everyone else is already taken.
If you're thinking of leaving this episode may help you understand what will happen and how to deal with it.
This one had me especially thinking about those born into a full GRC committed family with siblings and all.
What chance has anyone got when the crowd of a whole family is against you and your choices?
Very relatable. Talking about her beliefs, experiences and death of her young son that turned a corner for her.
Hearing what she went through reminds of so many attending or left the GRC.
This podcast is very Geelong Revival Centre relatable and a gentle non angering listen.
Although a little warning: They drop the F word occasionally.
I recommend this podcast starting from the first episode.
Troy was very entrenched in the other Revival Church line which is exactly the same where it matters in every way.
A lot of very surprising direct aligning discussion.
Listening to this show you can really imagine exactly the same going ons around the world at the GRC.
Their diplomatic approach, respect and understanding that we were just like those trapped in the cults is why I like their podcast.
They've had enough time away to have adjusted to real life, cooled down, think clearly and act wisely.
These are short 3 minute stories of how people helped those in need at a critical time.
It shows there are many kind strangers ready to assist you at any moment. Of course there are many good people in 'The World', unlike what the GRC forces everyone to believe.
Although seemingly very little gestures to some it shows how we ourselves can make a huge difference to a person, or group of people, at any time, any day, anywhere.
There is a huge catalogue of personal stories in the Unsung Hero podcast library. Below are just a few to get you started.
Look out for 'Today you - Tomorrow me'. Hits me every time for some reason.
The GRC is holding you back. Listen out for: "If you're miserable why do you keep doing this?"
Ex GRC member's and a pastor's personal stories with good historical information about Pastor Hollins and his GRC.
Be warned it may raise feelings of anger and sadness due to content discussing child abuse, drug usage, and suicide.
People are thrown under the bus publicly and it's somewhat journalistically sensationalised A Current Affair style.
Will anyone from the GRC return with a rebuttal? Please do, and if not, why not?
I found it an interesting trip back in time and learned some things.
Highly doubt anyone can listen to it and think the Geelong Revival Centre is God's one true church as per the whole point of this website.
What are the ministry and members thinking about when they hear these accusations and personal testimonies about their GRC experiences?
No doubt it's all a test of their faith and a sign of the Lord's return being close..yadda yadda.
Simple ways to make your life a little more joyful and maybe even a little less lonely. How to decrease feelings of loneliness and increase feelings of connectivity in your daily life.
The presenter tells his personal cult joining and leaving experience story.
Then explains how to recognise brainwashing.
Not expressly GRC situational but the methods are exactly the same.
A small channel that hasn't got a lot of subscribers, but saw this recently and thought he explains it simply.
Not expressly GRC situational but the methods are all the same.
What if everything is so simple once you look at it from the right angle? In this video, we’re diving into the hidden truths of perception, consciousness, and the nature of reality. Get ready to challenge everything you thought was real in the GRC.
Not expressly GRC situational but directly relatable. Even if you don't need it concerning the GRC experience, it will help with every day life, plus it may steer you towards going down a brilliant rabbit hole you never imagined was there. Please. You have to watch this. Are you, or were you, the person at 15 minutes and 40 seconds and on looking up to the sky? Watch to find out. Thinking of you if you are affected by this vid. I am not saying the Bible is wrong, it's only here to bolster facts about the GRC not being the one and only God chosen elect church in the entire world. You definitely do not need to follow the GRC minstry to follow the Bible and recieve all the good things in it through faith in Jesus.
